Let me start by saying that when I typed my subtitle, I actually typed, “Yaaas, Quack!”
Ahem.
First, let’s define what I consider line art. Remember, this is just my perspective and not the end-all-be-all of this style. For me, it’s the more intricate art style, where the lines make up patterns inside a solid outline.
The earliest example of line art I can find is from 2014.
This reminds me that I tried a lot of art in the office during my last two years of work. It’s also the year we started to figure out what the hell was going on with my health, and since I had a boss who started focusing her negative microaggressions on me, my work life was slowly devolving into a hellscape.
And what do I tell you? Art heals.
In 2015, the abuse at work increased and my health continued to decline. And I kept drawing.
A reflection of my inner chaos? Absolutely. This doodle (and all the subsequent ones) helped me get through the next two years before I quit. It also led to my first series of coloring book pages.

They aren’t the greatest, but they brought me a lot of joy. I think I need to redraw them, especially since I wanted to make another coloring book. Let me know if you’d like to see that.
But I digress.
Over the next decade, I would continue to draw line art. And like I tell you, practice makes art.

Honestly, aside from my motivational sprites, line art is what I’m most known for.
My mental health is much better now, too.
But it might just be this piece. 😉
